Winter CAN be cool - no pun intended

We escaped to Canmore this weekend. A great little town in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. I enjoyed the chance to be with my boys (the biggest one too). While Chuck and Cameron and Pete (our adopted uncle/brother) went skiing, Devon and I hiked up Johnston Canyon. How often can you climb or sit under a frozen waterfall? It was so beautiful and the ice cleats we rented were well worth the whole $10 each! With them we explored places other hikers could not. We took advantage of some extra time and hiked along the frozen creek of Grotto Canyon.

Day two was spent cross-country skiing at the world class Nordic Center - built for the Calgary Olympic Games of 1988. Chuck and Cameron had good time, the rest of us suffered - and are still suffering!

With our taste of winter sporting - we are set to watch the real athletes compete in the Olympics. This makes the last few weeks of winter kinda cool.

Love those pictures! The frozen waterfall is awesome! Winter can be much more enjoyable when you have fun things to do. How did your knees hold up when you went cross country?
